B2S Field Trips
Off-site field trips are an integral part of the Bridge 2 Success program. These trips allow our students to touch and feel many of the concepts discussed during our Tuesday evening curriculum.
If you would like to host our students at your place of business or have a suggestion for a field trip, please call 806-687-0772 to help an at-risk student visualize a new future. 2010-2011 School Year Field TripsStand Up for KidzFor many children, April is the first gleam of light from the end of the school year tunnel. Just one more month before the summer is all theirs. But for the Children’s Advocacy Center of the South Plains, April is the time to take a stand.
On Saturday, April 2, the center held the Fourth Annual Stand Up for Kidz event at noon in Elmore Park to kick off Child Abuse Prevention Month. Volunteers held up signs bearing the age and gender of each of the 800 children the CAC served in 2010, the second consecutive year Lubbock led the state of Texas in reported incidents of child abuse. Bridge 2 Success students proudly took part in this event.             KLBK Studio TourAfter a wonderful discussion on communication with KLBK's Brooke Thomas at the end of January we were invited to take a tour of the KLBK News Studio and watch the 5:00 news Live. Special thanks to Sarah Dillingham for leading our tour.
      Learning About Media With Brooke Thomas!Brooke Thomas visited with a small group of B2S Students about her background and her career in Media. Each student had an opportunity to practice being a reporter. Mentee, Keyon, had the chance to practice one on one with Brooke at the end!
            Quick Quack Benefit-January 22, 2011Student involvement in our fundraising efforts is not only fun but it also helps them get connected with the work that happens behind the scenes to make B2S happen each week. Over the course of 5 hours (12:00 pm - 5:00 pm) 18 students braved the wind and promoted B2S outside of the Quick Quack on University. Their quirky promotion raised almost $150 in cash donations and Quick Quack donated $226 from car wash sales. It was a blast!!!

B2S teens and mentors had a great time spending a day in the great outdoors! We learned about grooming horses, learned to ride, and enjoyed a picnic lunch provided by Seasoned with Love.
               Fireball Run Service Project, September 27, 2010
In September, seven B2S teens helped wash cars for the Fireball Run as they crossed the finished line of the Lubbock experience. The teens had a great time checking out the cars up close and learning about children who have gone missing from their homes.
